No. The ban applies to all sales channels, including online retailers. Selling or supplying disposable vapes through any medium will be illegal from 24 January 2027.
The Republic of Ireland government is banning disposable vapes to address two major concerns: Youth Vaping: Disposable vapes, often available in sweet flavours and at low prices, have become increasingly popular among teenagers. Studies indicate that a significant percentage of young vapers prefer disposables, raising concerns about nicotine addiction in minors. Environmental Impact: These single-use devices contribute to environmental pollution, with millions discarded weekly, leading to significant waste of materials like lithium and plastic.
Bringing disposable vapes into the Republic of Ireland for personal use is discouraged and may be subject to restrictions. Importing such products, especially in quantities suggesting resale, could lead to legal consequences under the new regulations.
The sale and supply of disposable vapes will be prohibited across the Republic of Ireland starting early 2027. This ban encompasses both nicotine-containing and nicotine-free single-use vapes. Vuse has already transitioned away from disposable vape products in Ireland. Our current range consists of rechargeable devices designed for continued use, with replaceable pods, offering an alternative to single-use products.
Consumers can switch to: Refillable Vape Kits: Devices with rechargeable batteries and refillable e-liquid tanks, offering customisation. Prefilled Pod Systems: Devices with rechargeable battery components and easy-swap e-liquid pods that are simply clicked into the device. These alternatives provide similar experiences to disposables while aligning with environmental goals.
